At the zoo

We wanted to try out the giraffe feeding station at the zoo so we packed up and headed over for the day last weekend. It was hot! The girls seemed to have a good time. We were a little disappointed that the carousel was out of order and the giraffes are still not coming to the feeding station platform. Savanna says her favorite animal is the giraffe. As we entered Africa, the ostriches, giraffes, and zebras were right at the edge of their habitat. That was exciting to see. We were also fortunate to get an excellent view of an elephant. Both girls had fun watching the seals swim around by the windows in their habitat. They just chuckled as they swam by. Savanna tried to get them to do tricks with her finger as she did in October but they weren't responding this time.

TA DA!

Savanna just finished her last session of Little Gym. We are going to definitely take a summer break and we will see about the fall. After all, she will be a big girl in preschool then. She has really grown in her confidence and skills in the gym. She can hang and flip with the best of them! The balance beam used to scare her but she will go across on her own now. Her other favorite activity is the Air Track and she had a blast on that the last day. She even got mommy and Sadie on there jumping. Not as graceful as Savanna but fun anyway!

Kindergarten field trip

We were able to go with Donna's class to Whitaker Farms in Randolph County on Tuesday. It was a rainy day but we still had fun. It was just another adventure to be had! Savanna pet the baby fainting goats. The farmers tried to get them to faint for us but those babies were tough (and hard to scare). Sadie and I said hello to Maggie, the horse. Savanna also planted a flower which is still growing outside. When it was all over the three of us headed to the strawberry patch and picked a quart of strawberries. Sadie loves them so she and I ate our share as we sloshed through the rows of plants. Savanna even ate one. Usually she will take a bite and then say she doesn't like them so someone else finishes it off for her. We were soaked and dirty when we headed home but the girls slept well that afternoon!

Butterflies in the Park

We went to City Park to ride the rides which closed as we arrived so we spent our time over at the playground. Savanna made a friend who she enjoyed playing with while the rest of us hung out on the bench. There was a butterfly that kept landing on the bench, then on Noah's leg, then on the girls. It landed on Sadie most because Savanna could not keep still. The funniest part was that it kept coming back.....on Sadie's toes, on her head, on Savanna's head, and her back.

House divided

We went with Nana and Poppy to the UNC/NCSU baseball game a couple of weekends ago and this was the first time we had to decide who was going to wear red and who was going to wear Carolina blue. Savanna chose her shirt so Sadie got to be mommy's little fan for the day. It sparked a lot of conversation when I walked around with only Savanna at the Flea Market in Raleigh. People wondered why I was wearing blue and Savanna was wearing red.

Relay for Life

Our family once again participated in the Amer. Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Savanna and I decided to spend the night while Noah and Sadie went home to sleep. It was a lot of fun watching the kids (and adults) play but also eye opening to see all of the purple "Survivor" shirts around the field. Cancer affects so many people and we are proud to be a part of the cause.

Little Monkeys

Everyone at our house loves The Little Gym! Sadie got excited one day we went into the gym to watch Savanna hang and play. She took off on the red mat! Savanna kept coming over to check on her little sister.

Matching red and white

We didn't plan it but this particular day the girls and Pa wore their red and white plaid. Weren't they cute?

Snuggle bugs

Savanna and Sadie love each other! I think that is the most enjoyable part of having two children--watching them interact in such a loving way. We are not morning people so we get the girls to be a little lazy by snuggling with us for a little while in the mornings. Savanna just snuggled up with Sadie one morning and let me get some keeper shots.

Post tax season break

On April 16 our family loaded up and met the Younts family at the beach. It was Sadie's first time at the beach. She was not so sure of the sand but got used to it eventually. It was pretty chilly so we didn't spend too much time on the beach. We were there just long enough to build a few sand castles, a sand alligator, and feed the seagulls.
