Playing dress up

Savanna had a blast dressing her sister up today. Sadie is such a good sport to let her put all of these things on her. The Minnie Mouse ears were too cute not to share.

The Nutcracker

Sunday was a day with the girls....We met Nana and Grammy at the Greensboro Children's Museum to see tidbits of the Nutcracker ballet. Savanna got her picture taken with the Sugar Plum Fairy. She also had a fun time creating another candy house with Nana. We love to visit the Children's Museum! There is so much to do.

Disney on Ice

What more could Savanna ask for......an evening with her favorite Disney characters "dancing" on ice. We visited the princess pre-show, a showing of all the princesses attire. Ariel's dress was on display as well as Snow White, Jasmine, Belle, and Cinderella herself waved to passers by. The costumes and props at the show were magnificent! There was the Lion King, Cars, Mickey and Minnie, Tinkerbell, and The Little Mermaid. Even Noah and I had a good time. Sadie enjoyed all of the lights but was not very impressed with the crowds loud cheers.

Feet Feet Feet

Sadie found her feet the other day and it was no time before she had her socks off and was focused on those tiny feet.

Tree hunting

The Sanders family tradition of travelling to the mountains to pick out that perfect Christmas tree came soon after Thanksgiving. The first weekend in December we caravaned up the mountain where it was snowing and found Sadie's first tree. This has become a fun and wonderful tradition for our girls. Then we get to have fun decorating it with ornaments, some from my baby years and some from Savanna and Sadie's first Christmases. Our tree looks different every year and I love it! Oh and the smell of a fresh Frasier fur tree!! Mmmmm!

WHOA Ho Ho

We visited with Santa in downtown Burlington on Friday night. He arrived in a fire truck and then took his spot to talk with the kids. Well, Savanna talked to him then we put Sadie in his lap for a quick picture. He almost dropped her and all the while Savanna was telling him about the moon.

Christmas Creation

I thought this would be a good year to decorate a gingerbread house with Savanna. She had a ball! I think it was like any cooking project though...the fun was in the tasting! She quickly got the hang of putting icing on the candy to make it stick. One minute our creation was a house and the next a church but the finished project was cute and colorful.

Thankfulness

This year we are thankful for family--aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters, parents, and grandparents. We are especially thankful for Sadie, our newest addition. It is a blessing for us to be surrounded by those that we love and to be able to enjoy their company as often as we do is special. Thanksgiving makes us look forward to being together again at Christmas.

First Snow

On November 21 we woke up to snow on the ground! It was only half an inch but it was beautiful. Savanna and Noah exchanged a couple of snowballs but it was too cold to be out there much longer than that. It had all melted by lunchtime but it was worth documenting. Sadie didn't really notice her first snow but Savanna was excited enough for them both.

Christmas pictures

We tried to get some good Christmas photos just before Thanksgiving and this was by far the best. It is hard enough with one and then to get two children even looking your way proved difficult. Sadie is smiling now and I would have loved to capture that precious smile. Merry Christmas everyone from our family to yours!

Tarheel born

It was a big day for our family...... mommy's birthday and Sadie's first Carolina football game. The Tarheels beat Ga. Tech and mommy got to celebrate her birthday with the ones she loves most. Sadie slept most of the time but we are starting her early so later we can add Tarheel bred to our title. Although, daddy might have some disagreements with that.

At the ZOO

What a beautiful day to explore the zoo in Asheboro! It was Sadie's first trip to see the animals. I was excited to see the baby giraffes that had just been placed in the habitat and Savanna LOVED watching the seals. They even played with her through the glass.

Fall photos

Our Sadie bug

Sadie is growing quickly. She is now 2 months old and has started cooing and smiling. That is the best thing to see as a parent. A happy child! She is even trying to imitate our laughs. We are all smitten with her!

Piggy bank ride

It is so funny to hear the way Savanna interprets certain words and phrases. She likes to eat basghetti. We made sock puppets and named mine Lucy but when she told Noah its name was "Lazy." Her latest is for Noah to give her piggy back rides but she calls them "piggy bank rides."

Touch a Truck

This is a fundraiser for our church's playschool and we have enjoyed going the last couple of years. Savanna stayed at the speed boat the longest. She looked at everything there was to see on that boat. Other highlights were the ambulance, fire truck, and motor bike. Noah and I enjoyed the RV that was as nice as our house.

Trick or Treat!

We weren't sure that the Ariel costume would make it to Halloween but after a few stitches Savanna was able to wear it for trick or treating. Sadie stayed warm in her penguin costume and actually slept through her first tour of the neighborhood. In true Savanna fashion she "did not want to go trick or treating" but once we got out she had a blast. She was entertained by all of the other costumes. It turned out to be a wonderful night!

Pumpkin Patch time

We had fun choosing pumpkins at the Pumpkin Patch. Sadie slept through it and was not happy to be awakened for a photo shoot at the end but Savanna enjoyed the big and little pumpkins as well as finding some gourds for decoration. We enjoy finding new things at the farm.

Birthday field trip

Savanna chose to go to the Greensboro Children's Museum for her birthday outing this year. She said her favorite thing was the airplane. You could sit in the pilot's seat, passenger's seats. or slide down the evacuation slide. Her idea of a special birthday dinner- McDonald's. Yes, we had Big Macs for Savanna's birthday dinner then to Smitty's for ice cream.

Savanna turns 3!

On Friday Savanna turned 3 years old! This year is becoming yet another adventure. You would think we have a teenager on our hands. She is quite the independent child and can quote you when you didn't even think she was listening. Our favorites are "I'm not happy about this" and "no ma'am."

What a good big sister!

Savanna has been such a good big sister to Sadie! She talks to her and follows our lead when taking care of her. The other day Sadie had the hiccups so Savanna went over to her and said she was going to give her "3 kisses" to make her hiccups go away. Too bad for Sadie it didn't work but what a sweet gesture!

We welcomed our precious Sadie Caroline into the world on Friday, August 29 at 5:50am. She weighed 7lbs. 7oz. She and her big sister are getting along well!

Celebrating Sunday school

At church this morning we celebrated Sunday school and each of the children received a beginner's bible. Savanna has been reading hers ever since.

All the world is a stage where Savanna is concerned! As soon as she sees any kind of platform she immediately starts twirling and dancing. "Ta Da" Do we have an aspiring ballerina or actress on our hands?

Trip to the Hill

We spent Saturday afternoon at Kenan Stadium with Nana and Poppy getting ready for football season. We were introduced to the "football boys" after playing on the field.

Go Heels! Savanna had her picture taken with some of the Carolina cheerleaders.

GO TAR HEELS!

Pa's 60th celebration

We had a good dinner at PF Changs with Pa and family for his birthday at the end of July.

Baby on the way

We are in our last month of pregnancy and I think everyone at our house is getting excited. I cannot wait to meet our newest little girl and I can tell that Noah feels the same way. Savanna is looking forward to a baby sister because she has started treating her baby dolls like the real thing. She puts them to bed and kisses them goodnight. We have caught her reading stories to them and pushing them in the baby swing. Noah and I are optimistic that she will do so well with the real thing in a few weeks!

Brides...

Savanna has gotten into brides. I guess they are enough like princesses to spark her interest. Abby was such a good sport the other night when Savanna decided to dress up the dog instead of herself as the bride.

Testing the waters

We've enjoyed ourselves this summer with trips to Florida and the beach. All of which we HAD to get in the water. Savanna is a water baby! She has enjoyed swimming in the river, the ocean, and the pool. The waves of the ocean were a little scary but with a little coaxing she will give it a try. We are going to have her paddling those arms and kicking those feet in no time.

Lala is 21!

Savanna helped pick out Lala's birthday hat and card. The hat was pink, Savanna's favorite color, and princess decoration while the card had a silly dog on the front.

Yummy blueberries!

Savanna was happy to be blueberry picking for about 5 minutes. She tasted a few and then was ready to go home because she was "sweating."
